They met when Tamekia Moore was sitting on her family's front porch in 2009. That's when Otis Keller walked up to her to "spit game." According to her family, the two went together like peanut butter and jelly. When you saw one, you saw the other.

Moore wishes she had more time. A little more than a decade wasn't enough.

"I wasn't interested at first, but eventually we started hanging out," Moore said. "13 years and two kids later, he got on my nerves, but he's a sweet person. If anybody needed anything, he would try his best. If someone was stranded on the side of the road, since he knows about cars, he would always stop and help a stranger. More than anything, even more than me, his kids were always his number one."

The couple got engaged a little more than a week ago. Now Moore is left heartbroken after her fiancé was shot and killed last Thursday. Keller was 36.

Their children, an 11-year-old daughter and 13-year-old son, are devastated, according to Moore.

"He was an excellent father. He always put his kids first," Moore said. "It didn't matter if he liked a job or not. He knew he had to be able to provide for them. My favorite memory of him is when our son was born. He was premature and Otis was afraid because he was so little. The first time we got to hold him Otis promised to be the perfect role model."

Moore said Otis worked on cars as a side gig, and it was the last thing he spoke about with her before his death.

Just after 5 p.m. on July 11, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police were dispatched to the 1200 block of Medford Avenue for a reported shooting. When officers arrived they found Keller outside. He died at the scene.

"He was working on someone's car and had just gotten the kids some snacks at the store," Moore said. "He said he needed to go order some car parts for the vehicle he was working on," Moore said. "Someone came to the house and said he was shot. So I went out to the scene. Police were everywhere and I saw a bullet through a car. I just knew he was gone, because there wasn't an ambulance."

Her first thought were their children, who start school in a few weeks.

Moore said she doesn't know any reason why someone would shoot her fiancé. She hasn't heard much from police who are still investigating. Her family said Keller never bothered anybody.
