Caitlin Clark is set to make her NASCAR debut... sort of. The Indiana Fever star, who was the number one overall pick in this year's WNBA draft, has been given a number of sponsorship opportunities. Clark is certainly a superstar, and has appeared in all kinds of advertising campaigns and TV commercials. But she was just given the biggest advertising honor of all. Caitlin Clark will be featured on the hood of NASCAR driver Josh Berry's number four car at the upcoming Brickyard 400 in Indianapolis, Indiana. The partnership with Panini America, the trading card giant, will showcase Clark in an Iowa jersey with the phrase "Raining 3s." Berry, who like Clark is also a rookie, was excited to make the announcement official, and said this in a statement:
"Every racecar driver wants to compete at Indy. It’s hallowed ground that all of us treat with a tremendous amount of respect. To be there with Panini and promote its new Caitlin Clark Collection just adds to the prestige of racing in the Brickyard 400. Indy is a great sports town and it’s an honor to have Caitlin Clark as a part of our effort." https://twitter.com/StewartHaasRcng/status/1813242836394934753 The sponsorship makes sense, considering that Panini is the official trading card partner of NASCAR (because every league has to have an official partner for virtually every product ever). It's the first time since 2021 that Panini has acted as a primary sponsor for a car in the NASCAR Cup Series. Caitlin Clark likely won't be there at the race to see her likeness plastered on the hood of the number four car. She'll be representing the Fever at the WNBA's All-Star Weekend. But maybe both Clark and the car with her face on it will have success over the weekend. And according to Panini, for many more races to come:
"Excited to launch our multi-race sponsorship with Josh Berry and Stewart Haas Racing." https://twitter.com/PaniniAmerica/status/1813253992182579515?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1813253992182579515%7Ctwgr%5E8fe069e15fcc9962ca43201db7c3132a9dc949ec%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.nytimes.com%2Fathletic%2F5641720%2F2024%2F07%2F16%2Fcaitlin-clark-nascar-panini-brickyard-400%2F
