Kyle Larson redeemed himself after a pit road speeding penalty during the 2024 Indianapolis 500 in May. Larson clawed through the field and won the Brickyard 400 for the first time in his career on Sunday afternoon. It is the Hendrick Motorsports driver’s third Crown Jewel victory in NASCAR. However, Ryan Blaney wasn’t happy that Larson ended up in victory lane.

After Brad Keselowski ran out of fuel going into the first NASCAR overtime, Larson moved to the front row and was able to earn the lead exiting Turn 1. Blaney was livid on the radio and said that Larson is NASCAR’s “golden boy.” Following Larson’s victory, he went on social media, quoted a post of Blaney calling him a golden boy, and thanked NASCAR.

NASCAR deemed that Larson didn’t jump the restart, so everything fell within the rulebook. Blaney was on the wrong end of a very unlucky situation, and Larson had some fun with his comments after the event. Now, Larson just needs to win the Daytona 500 to have a victory in every Crown Jewel event in the NASCAR Cup Series.
