    A weekend in Indianapolis sees at least 11 people shot. 2 killed Monday morning

    INDIANAPOLIS — The city saw nearly a dozen shootings over the weekend with the violence continuing Monday morning with two separate shootings that ended as homicides.

    There were at least 11 shootings with people wounded from Saturday morning to Sunday night in Indianapolis. One person was shot and killed just after midnight Monday morning and another person was fatally shot later Monday morning.

    Below are the details on the weekend violence:

    Shooting on Amehurt Drive

    June 20 : Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to a shooting in the 7000 block of Rawlins Square on the northwest side a little before 12:30 p.m. There they found a man shot and first responders transported him to a local hospital. He was awake and talking. Police believe the initial shooting happened in the 2100 block of Amehurst Drive on the northwest side.

    Shooting on Udell Street

    June 20 : IMPD officers responded to reports of a person shot on Udell Street on the northwest side at 10:45 p.m. There they found a man who was transported to a local hospital. He is believed to be in stable condition.

    Shooting on Clifton Street

    July 21 : officers responded to a report of a person shot in the 3500 block of Clifton Street on the north side at 12:24 a.m. There officers found a man shot. He was transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition.

    Shooting on East 21st Street

    July 21 : Officers responded to a report of someone shot in the 9800 block of E 21 st Street on the eastside on the report of a person shot. There officers found a man shot. He was transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition.

    Shooting on Jamestown Court

    July 21 : IMPD officers were dispatched to investigate a possible person shot in the 4500 block of Jamestown Court on the northeast side at 3:21 a.m. Officers arrived and located a man shot. He was taken to a local hospital and is awake and breathing.

    Shooting on North Illinois Street

    July 21 : Officers responded to 3400 block of N Illinois Street on the north side at 4:14 a.m. on the report of a person shot. Officers arrived and located a woman shot on vacant land, and she was transported to a local hospital. She is in stable condition.

    Shooting on West Vermont Street

    July 21: Officers responded to the 1600 block of W Vermont St on the westside at 8 p.m. on the report of a person shot. Officers arrived and located a man shot. He was taken to a local hospital and is currently in critical condition.

    Four people arrive at Indianapolis hospitals with gunshot wounds

    • A person arrived at IU Methodist Hospital on Saturday with what is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. They were listed in stable condition.
    • Just after 5 a.m. Saturday a person arrived at Community Hospital East. They were reported to be awake and breathing.
    • At 5:59 p.m. Sunday a man arrived at St. Vincent Hospital on Sunday with gunshot wounds. The shooting is believed to have happened in the 2300 block of W. 16th Street.
    • A person arrived at Community Hospital North on Sunday with gunshot injuries. They were reported to be awake and breathing. The shooting is believed to have happened in the 11500 block of E. Washington Street and a police report indicates.

    Road rage shooting on I-465 sends man to hospital

    July 21 : Just before 9 p.m., Indiana State Police dispatchers were called about shots fired from one vehicle toward another on I-465 near the 14-mile marker on the city's west side. Moments later, police were notified about a person shot at a gas station on 10th Street near I-465. Indianapolis police met with the 18-year-old male who was shot. The teen was the driver of a gray pickup. A passenger in the pickup was not hurt and the driver is expected to survive.

    Indiana State Police believe the teen was driving southbound when another driver pulled alongside the pickup and fired several shots at the driver's door.

    The shooter was driving a grey passenger car and fled while the teen drove to the gas station to call for help. Investigators believe the shooting was a result of a road rage incident.

    Anyone in the area of I-465 and West 10th Street between 8:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. July 21, 2024, and has a vehicle equipped with dash cameras, is asked to contact the Indiana State Police at 317-899-8577.

    Two men shot and killed Monday morning

    On Monday officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of Nelson Avenue on the southeast side a little after midnight. There they found a man shot. He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition where he later died.

    The Marion County Coroner's Office identified him as 18-year-old Gabriel Pedraza.

    About 10 a.m. Monday officers were dispatched to the 3800 block of E New York Street on the east side on reports of a person shot where they found a man with injuries. He was taken to a hospital in serious condition but did not survive.

    He has not been identified yet.
