The Indianapolis Colts defense is an intriguing unit entering the 2024 season, bringing some wide range of outcomes.

After adding to the pass rush even more this offseason, the secondary is the unit with question marks. However, some concerns could be solved with a breakout campaign from cornerback JuJu Brents.

Matt Holder of Bleacher Report believes the second-year defender could be in for that type of season.

The second-round pick's six passes defended during limited action in 2023 as well as Indianapolis' strong pass rush, which should help make life easier for the defense's coverage as a whole, provide plenty of reason for optimism for the Kansas State product.

Brents was behind the eight-ball a bit during his rookie season. He missed the spring workouts due to wrist surgery and then dealt with a hamstring throughout training camp.

The Colts are relying heavily on Brents taking a step forward in his second season. With Kenny Moore II returning to man the slot and fellow second-year cornerback expected to be the starter at the other boundary spot, Brents is a vital piece.

According to Pro Football Focus, Brents allowed a 109.1 passer rating in coverage on 48 targets.

A more consistent pass rush should help the secondary in Gus Bradley's zone-heavy scheme, but the Colts also need their young defenders to make plays on the ball when opportunities arise.

The Colts defense has a chance to be a strong unit if a few things bounce their way, including a breakout campaign from the former second-round pick.
