Vice President Kamala Harris , the likely nominee to replace President Joe Biden on the Democratic ticket, will visit Indianapolis on Wednesday as the keynote speaker at the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.’s Grand Boulé conference .

This will be one of the vice president's first appearances since announcing her intent to run for the nomination. The event is not open to the public.

    Possible Indianapolis traffic on Wednesday

Residents should expect intermittent delays in traffic from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. between the Indianapolis International Airport on the city's southwest side and the Indiana Convention Center downtown, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

The U.S. Secret Service will be the lead agency handling the vice president's security detail in Indianapolis and will receive support from local law enforcement agencies.

Jeffrey Adams, special agent for the U.S. Secret Service Indianapolis field office, noted that the agency would not be releasing Harris' motorcade route for security reasons.

"We do not comment on protective measures and how we do things, but rest assured that we have a plan in place," Adams said. "We've been working with our partners at IMPD, Indiana State Police and Marion County Sheriff's Office for several days now. We have a very good security plan in place."
