Andrew Nembhard, Pacers agree to three-year extension

Indiana Pacers guard Andrew Nembhard has agreed to a three-year, $59 million extension with the organization, ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski was first to report Wednesday.

By being a second-round pick in 2022, Nembhard did not have the typical rookie scale that first-round rookies do. He was entering the third year of a four-year, $8.6 million deal signed post-draft, filling their cap space at the time.

Though there was a $2.2 million club option for 2025-26 that’s been voided with this new extension, expected to begin at $18.1 million that goes through the 2027-28 season, his age-28 campaign, per Spotrac .

He was one of their best guards alongside Tyrese Haliburton last season, starting in 47 of his 68 games–plus in all 17 of their playoff games. In the regular season, he posted averages of 9.2 points, 2.1 rebounds and 4.1 assists, shooting 49.8 percent from the floor, 35.7 percent from the free-throw line and 80.4 percent from the free-throw line.

Though the 6-foot-5 stepped up in the playoffs–in part due to Haliburton’s lower body injuries that limited his play and, ultimately, caused him to miss the last two games (hamstring) against Boston before being swept. Nembhard responded with 32 points on 12-of-21 shooting (4-7 3PT) with nine assists in 39 minutes in Game 3 followed by a 24-point, six-rebound, 10-assist effort in 39 minutes in Game 4.

For the playoffs in its entirety, he averaged 14.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 5.5 assists in 32.6 minutes on 48.3 percent shooting from 3-point range with a 65.4 true shooting percentage.

The Pacers have had a pretty active offseason, re-signing both Siakam and Toppin to new deals while adding James Wiseman to the frontcourt mix. I wonder if this means they’re not going to re-sign T.J. McConnell or, at the very least, give him a pay raise in the future.
