Legendary Ole Miss wide receiver signs one-year deal with the Indianapolis Colts

There aren't too many wide receivers that have made an impact on Ole Miss football quite like Laquon Treadwell did. Treadwell's NFL career hasn't been as illustrious as his college days, but the 2016 first-round pick has found a new landing spot as he enters the ninth year of his career.

Treadwell has bounced around in the NFL, playing for five different teams in his eight year career. Keeping with the theme of journeyman, Treadwell signed a one-year deal with the Indianapolis Colts on Wednesday.

After spending his first four seasons with the Minnesota Vikings , Treadwell has made stops in Atlanta , Jacksonville , Seattle , and most recently Baltimore . In 2023, Treadwell posted just one reception for 16 yards.

The good news for Treadwell is that the Colts don't have a ton of depth at the wide receiver position, so making the 53-man roster isn't an impossible mountain to climb. With that being said, Treadwell recently turned 29 years old and will have to have a stellar training camp and preseason in order to crack the active roster when Week 1 rolls around.

For a player who was so dominant in the SEC, it's been mystifying as to why Treadwell hasn't been able to find his footing at the NFL level. The Rebels' fifth all-time leading receiver has 111 career receptions for 1,242 receiving yards and five touchdowns. Rebels fans will hope that Treadwell sticks on the Colts roster when the dust settles in training camp at the end of August.
