The Indianapolis Colts' success in 2024 is directly tied to the performance of second-year quarterback Anthony Richardson.

Head Coach Shane Steichen's plan for his dual-threat quarterback included a legendary comparison to former NBA MVP Steph Curry.

Richardson is returning from a shoulder injury that cut his rookie season short after making only four starts in 2023. This has led many around the league to believe that the Colts need to decrease the amount of time Richardson is used as a runner to keep him healthy going forward.

The Colts agree that keeping their starting quarterback on the field is their primary focus for the 2024 season. However, they also know that Richardson's ability as a runner was a significant reason they chose to draft him fourth overall in the 2023 NFL Draft. Steichen compared this decision to legendary three-point shooter Steph Curry. He asked if you are going to limit Curry from shooting three-pointers; that answer is absolutely not.

In terms of dual-threat quarterbacks, Richardson already seems to be in an elite tier of players, with him being compared to Lamar Jackson and Cam Newton . Two players who utilized their ability as dual-threat quarterbacks on their way to winning the NFL MVP award. And it seems the Colts have no plan to take Richardson's legs away from him. In fact, it sounds like it will continue to be a major element of the team's offense going forward.
