Colts trade offer to Giants for No. 6 pick in NFL draft revealed

Indianapolis Colts general manager Chris Ballard wanted to move up in the 2024 NFL Draft, but the New York Giants weren't biting.

Holding the No. 6 pick and clearly having an eye for a top receiver after failing to trade up for a quarterback, the Giants were likely staying put unless they got an overwhelming offer.

As revealed in the finale of "Hard Knocks: Offseason with the New York Giants," the Colts came calling. They offered the Nos. 15 and 46 picks along with a 2025 second-round selection to move up to No. 6.

This would have given the Giants back-to-back picks in the second round as they held the No. 47 pick.

Though Giants general manager Joe Schoen could be seen contemplating the offer, he ultimately declined and selected LSU star Malik Nabers.

This gives some context to the quotes Ballard made after the draft, saying they made some strong offers to move up in the order. It likely would have been to snag Nabers as well.

However, the Colts wound up staying put at No. 15, taking the first defender off the board in edge rusher Laiatu Latu.

Even though building around Anthony Richardson was a key objective this offseason, the Colts might be glad Latu fell to them considering the unfortunate injury that befell Samson Ebukam.

Ultimately, the Giants were likely never going to move that far back in the draft unless they received an overwhelming offer.
