    Woman's death after crash with IndyGo bus, shooting ruled a homicide

    INDIANAPOLIS — Police are investigating a woman's death as a homicide several weeks after officers found her critically injured in a crash with an IndyGo bus and later learned she had been shot, officials said Thursday.

    Treasure Gray , 21, died three days after a series of catastrophic events at the intersection of North Harding and West 18 th streets on July 5.

    First responders were called about a serious bodily injury crash and found Gray and her friend inside a crushed Pontiac hatchback at the scene of the collision in the Riverside neighborhood. An IndyGo bus and another vehicle were also involved.

    Gray and her friend were taken to a hospital, where Gray was found to have gunshot wounds. Her family said she was shot in her left knee, right thigh and shoulder. Aggravated assault detectives launched an investigation.

    The friend stayed in the hospital for five days.

    Homicide detectives have taken over the case, police said Thursday. Many details about the crash remain under investigation, including what led to the gunfire and suspect information.

    Gray, known as Trey to those close to her, was a single mother to a 7-month-old daughter.
