    Basketball at Indiana State Fair: Top high school boys, girls players in event Sunday

    High school basketball is coming to the Indiana State Fair . Old school, outdoor basketball.

    Yes, you read that correctly.

    On Sunday, the final day of the state fair, a special edition of the Prep Ball Stars “Elite Players Only” showcase – normally played on Thursday nights at the Mojo Up Sports Complex in Noblesville — will be played on the fairgrounds.

    Activities will start at 3 p.m. Sunday with a dunk contest and 3-point shootout, followed by a girls game at 4 p.m. and boys at 5:30 p.m. on an outdoor court near Gate 12 just off 42nd Street on the fairgrounds. There is free entry to the event with admission to the fair. The event is a partnership with Prep Ball Stars, Mojo Up Sports Complex and The City League.

    Amber Harris, a McDonald’s All American from North Central, star at Xavier and former WNBA player, is confirmed to coach one of the teams. Ron Rutland Jr., former Pike and UIndy standout and father of Crispus Attucks’ standout and incoming IU Indianapolis freshman Ron Rutland III, will coach one of the boys teams.
