    Wayne Township Fire Department honoring Rodrick Shane Lambert with funeral procession

    Wayne Township Fire Department will have a funeral procession for firefighter Rodrick Shane Lambert, who died on Aug. 10, 2024.

    The department announced his line-of-duty death after he suffered significant injuries and paralysis after a fire engine he was riding in overturned May 24, 1995. That crash also killed firefighter Ronald Deer .

    "Over the last 30 years, Rod was a fixture at Wayne Township fire stations, visiting often and bringing his incredible spirit and smile, inspiring others to never give up on life's challenges," read a statement released by the Wayne Township Fire Department.

    The department will host a service for Lambert on Tuesday at Olivet Missionary Baptist Church , 4141 N. High School Road.

    Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., and services will start at noon.

    Lambert will be buried with fire department honors in the Hero's of Public Safety Memorial at Crown Hill Cemetery.

    The funeral processional is expected to start between 1:30 and 1:45 pm. It will leave from Olivet Missionary Baptist Church, and proceed east on 38th Street to Boulevard Place. South on Boulevard place to the entrance of Crown Hill Cemetery .

    The public is invited to stand along the route to pay their respects to Lambert.
