Ryan Pepiot has a day job − starting pitcher for the Tampa Bay Rays .

But he has a Plan B − Indianapolis Colts quarterback.

The 27-year-old (as of Aug. 21) Butler baseball and Westfield High School alum joined Rays reporter Tricia Whitaker (a former Indianapolis sportscaster) for a few rapid-fire questions, including: What job would you want if you weren't a big-league pitcher?

"NFL quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts ," he said without hesitation. "Little bit of experience and I can throw the ball pretty well."

Then he added: "Accuracy and spiral, not always 100 percent, but I can throw it far."

Then he threw a pass to Whitaker, but it was more like a screen. So Anthony Richardson probably doesn't face a lot of competition from Pepiot.

The right-hander is 6-5 this season with a 3.69 ERA in 18 starts. The Los Angeles Dodgers drafted Pepiot in the third round of the 2019 major league draft, and this is his third big-league season.

    He played quarterback at Westfield.
