    It could be the hottest day in Indy for 2024. Could it be the hottest ever? Here's the record

    The warmest day in 2024 was June 17, when the temperature reached 93 degrees. The National Weather Service in Indianapolis expects to beat that temperature high today .

    But will we beat any other records?

    What is the record for the highest temperature in Indianapolis?

    The highest temperature ever recorded in Indianapolis was 106 on July 14, 1936, according to NWS Indianapolis .

    Today, the predicted temperature high is 98 degrees, which is just 8 degrees shy of our all time high.

    The last time we reached or exceeded 95 degrees was July 5, 2022 when the temperature reached 99 degrees, according to NWS climate records .

    Daily temperature high records could also be broken over the next week.

    The record for Aug. 27 is 97 degrees and was set in 1948, 96 degrees for Aug. 28 and was set in 1953, 97 degrees for Aug. 29, set in 1953 and 95 degrees on Aug. 30, set in 1953.
