A Port Aransas ISD teacher has been selected as a finalist for H-E-B’s Excellence in Education awards.

On Feb. 12, the organization announced that teacher Trevor Green of Brundre_ Middle School in Port Aransas ISD has been named as as a South Texas Region Teacher finalist.

Each year, H-E-B’s Excellence in Education awards seek to honor the dedication of individual teachers, counselors, and school districts who put in time above and beyond the ordinary to help prepare the students for the next chapters of their lives. More than $13 million have been awarded to Texas teachers, principals, public schools and districts, school boards and early childhood facilities since the program’s inception in 2002, according to H-EB’s website “Through this program, H-E-B seeks to pay tribute to those educators who go the extra mile each and every day to serve their students and their communities and who inspire others to do the same,” H-E-B’s website reads.

Each H-E-B Excellence in Education finalist in the teacher category, including Green, received a $1,000 check for themselves and a $1,000 check for their respective school. The winners will be announced on May 5.
