Celine Dion hits out at the Trump campaign for playing 'My Heart Will Go On' at a Montana rally: 'Really, that song?'

• Donald Trump played Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On" at a rally in Montana on Friday.
• Dion's management team has said the use of the song was "in no way" authorized by the singer.
• It's not the first time an artist has spoken out against the former president for using their music.

Celine Dion has hit out at Donald Trump and his campaign organizers for using her " Titanic " ballad " My Heart Will Go On " at a recent rally.

A video of Dion performing the Oscar-winning song from the 1997 film was played before Trump appeared onstage in Bozeman, Montana, on August 9, footage from the rally shared on X shows.

The following day, Dion — who recently returned to the stage after a four-year hiatus — and her management team and record label distanced themselves from the the incident in a post on Instagram.

A statement published on her account read: "Celine Dion's management team and her record label, Sony Music Entertainment Canada Inc, became aware of the unauthorized usage of the video, recording, musical performance, and likeness of Celine Dion singing 'My Heart Will Go On' at a Donald Trump/JD Vance campaign rally in Montana."

"In no way is this use authorized and Celine Dion does not endorse this or any similar use," the statement continued.

The statement concluded: "… And really, that song?"

The Trump campaign has not yet responded to the statement.

The video that was played appears to have been from Dion's "Taking Chances World Tour" video and live album.

It's not the first time an artist has spoken out against the former president for using their music at one of his events.

Artists including Rihanna, Phil Collins, Aerosmith, Pharrell Williams, and The Rolling Stones have all raised issues with Trump's campaign using their music.

Dion recently closed out the Paris 2024 Olympics opening ceremony in a rare live performance since her stiff person syndrome diagnosis .

She performed "Hymne à l'amour," a song made famous by French singer Édith Piaf, on the Eiffel Tower as the 2024 Games kicked off in the French capital.
