Deadpool returned with Hugh Jackman as Wolverine to save the MCU.
    • Marvel Studios' latest movie, "Deadpool & Wolverine," grossed over $1 billion.
    • Marvel's next release, "Captain America: Brave New World," is scheduled for February 14, 2025.
    • Two more "Avengers" sequels and a "Fantastic Four" movie are also on the way.

The following list contains Walt Disney Studios' theatrical film slate as of August 9, 2024.

Marvel is back on top after " Deadpool & Wolverine " made over a billion dollars.

Fans were worried about Marvel's future after a series of poorly-received movies and TV series , production delays, and the firing of the actor who was supposed to play the next big villain.

But its latest release, "Deadpool & Wolverine," is now the second highest-grossing film of the year and speeding toward taking over " Inside Out 2 ."

Amid the success of "Deadpool & Wolverine," Marvel has made multiple announcements that have capitalized on the renewed interest, including the return of beloved actor Robert Downey Jr .

Here's what to know about Marvel's upcoming releases.

Correction: July 29, 2024 — An earlier version of this story misstated the release date of  "Captain America: Brave New World." It is scheduled to be released in 2025, not 2024.

Anthony Mackie will lead "Captain America: Brave New World" as Sam Wilson, the new Captain America.

Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) is the new Captain America in the fourth film of the franchise.

He'll be facing off against multiple villains, including Red Hulk (AKA Thaddeus 'Thunderbolt' Ross). Harrison Ford is taking over as Ross after the original actor William Hurt, died in 2022 after complications from prostate cancer.

According to the first trailer, Ross is now the president and is trying to force Captain America to a government ally.

Sam Wilson will also face off against the Serpent Society, a super-villain organization with snake-themed powers, led by Sidewinder (Giancarlo Esposito).

"The Incredible Hulk" actors Tim Blake Nelson and Liv Tyler are reprising their roles as The Leader and Betty Ross; however, the main Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) seems to be absent from the movie.

Shira Haas will play the superheroine Sabra, while Danny Ramirez and Carl Lumbly will reprise their roles from "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier."

Director Julius Onah ("The Cloverfield Paradox") described the sequel as a thriller. The film was formerly called "Captain America: New World Order."

    May 2, 2025: "Thunderbolts*"

"Thunderbolts*" cast includes Florence Pugh, Lewis Pullman, Geraldine Viswanathan, Hannah John-Kamen, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour and Wyatt Russell. Jake Schreier, standing on the left of Stan, will direct the film.

While we await the next "Avengers" movie, Marvel is releasing a new antihero group next year.

The Thunderbolts are a ragtag bunch of characters we've seen introduced in various movies and Disney+ shows. Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), US Agent (Wyatt Russell), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), Red Guardian (David Harbour), Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), and Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) will all star in the upcoming movie. The group basically seems like Marvel's version of the Suicide Squad.

The plot of "Thunderbolts*" has not yet been revealed, but it likely has something to do with the new hero introduced in the film, Sentry (Lewis Pullman). Sentry is one of the most powerful heroes in Marvel comics so, hopefully, the Thunderbolts team isn't fighting him.

Geraldine Viswanathan is playing an undisclosed character, while Ford will reprise his role as Ross in the movie.

July 25, 2025: "The Fantastic Four: First Steps"

Joseph Quinn, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Pedro Pascal, and Vanessa Kirby will appear star as the lead heroes in "The Fantastic Four: First Steps."

Marvel's first superhero family is finally coming to the MCU.

"WandaVision" director Matt Shakman will direct the reboot, which stars Pedro Pascal as Mr Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as the Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as the Thing.

The Fantastic Four will face off against the planet-eating alien Galactus (Ralph Inerson) and his herald, a female version of the Silver Surfer (Julia Garner) known as Shalla-Bal.

At San Diego Comic-Con in July, Kevin Feige and Shakman announced the film will take place in a technologically advanced version of 1960s New York, which means it likely won't be set on the main 616 timeline.

But the Fantastic Four will return in the next Avengers movie, which means they will interact with the main heroes soon.

    November 7, 2025: "Blade"

The Academy Award winner is joining the MCU as the iconic character.

"Blade" is scheduled for November 2025 despite reports that the film is still stuck in development.

The film was first announced at SDCC in 2019, with Mahershala Ali taking over as the human/vampire hybrid Blade. Wesley Snipes originally played Blade in a movie trilogy that launched in 1998.

Ali's Blade was first teased in a post-credit scene of "Eternals."

THR reported, citing unnamed sources, that Mia Goth is the only other actor still attached to the film after the script underwent multiple changes over the last three years. The movie currently has no director after Bassam Tariq left in 2022 and Yann Demange dropped out in June.

THR also reported, citing unnamed sources, that Eric Pearson, who worked on "Thunderbolts*" and "The Fantastic Four: First Steps," is currently writing a new draft for the film.

    May 1, 2026: "Avengers: Doomsday"

Robert Downey Jr. appeared onstage at Marvel's San Diego Comic-Con panel on July 27, 2024, to reveal he is playing Doctor Doom.

Originally, the next "Avengers" movie was going to revolve around Jonathan Major's villain, Kang. But Marvel fired him after Majors was convicted of assaulting his ex-girlfriend.

Now, the film seems to be setting up the Fantastic Four villain Doctor Doom as the new major "Avengers" threat.

Doom has yet to be introduced in the MCU, but Marvel announced at SDCC in July that Robert Downey Jr. will be returning to the franchise to play a version of Doom.

With this new villain, it seems more likely that Marvel is adapting two major events from Marvel comics in 2015 and 2016, "Time Runs Out" and "Secret Wars."

The Russo brothers , who directed the last two beloved "Avengers" movies, will direct both "Doomsday" and "Secret Wars."

Anthony and Joe Russo are a sibling directing duo who will direct the next two "Avengers" movies.

This film will close out phase six and will likely wrap up the Multiverse saga, pushing Marvel into a new age.

There are also four untitled Marvel movies on the calendar, one of which will likely be "Armor Wars."

Don Cheadle as James "Rhodey" Rhodes in Marvel's "Secret Invasion." He may reprise his role in "Armor Wars."

According to Disney's updated release calendar, as of August 2024, there are four more untitled Marvel movies on the way. It's possible an "X-Men" reboot will appear among these titles in the future.

In September 2022, The Hollywood Reporter reported, citing an unnamed source, that Don Cheadle's Disney+ series, "Armor Wars," will be turned into a movie. It could be one of the untitled films.

The next Tom Holland " Spider-Man " movie or a sequel for "Shang-Chi," "Doctor Strange," "Black Panther" or "Thor" could also be released on one of these dates.

Below are the dates attached to these untitled films:

    February 13, 2026
    November 6, 2026
    July 23, 2027
    November 5, 2027
