    Walmart Recall: Lunchbox Staple Pulled From Shelves In 26 States

    For many kids across the country, school is back in session. That means parents are starting to make lots of lunches, many of which contain a beloved staple : apple juice! But not matter if you’re a kid or an adult who enjoys this tasty beverage, it’s important to know that there is a recall for this product at Walmart. So, if you have some Great Value apple juice in your kitchen, here’s what you need to know.

    First, there’s the reason for the recall. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the recalled juice contains high levels of arsenic. While low levels of arsenic are said to be harmless, these drinks contain more than is allowed. More specifically, 10 parts per billion are allowed while these juices contain 13.2 parts per billion.

    There are a few ways to identify these products. First, they are the ones packaged in eight-ounce PET plastic bottles and sold in six-packs. They will also have a Best If Used By date of December 28, 2024 and the following UPC code: 0-78742-29655-5.

    Although this recall impacts many states, not all of them are affected. A complete list can be found here: Alabama, Connecticut, the District of Columbia, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, Mississippi, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Vermont and West Virginia.

    Are you able to recognize the symptoms of arsenic poisoning? They can begin less than 30 minutes after consuming a large amount of arsenic. While the symptoms can vary, they tend to include abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and a “pins and needles” feeling in your fingers and toes. Some may also get red, swollen skin. In these cases, please seek medical attention ASAP.
