Having a pet is something many people love. And while we typically see things like dogs, cats, maybe a bird, fish, or even a hamster, there are more exotic varieties. Kansas City Chiefs Rookie running back Carson Steele shared that he is the proud owner of an alligator named Crocky J.

Carson Steele told KCTV he’s already earned some nicknames from the team.

“The favorite one I’d say is ‘Crocodile’ because of my pet alligator,” Carson said.

Crocky J. was a gift from his dad when he was a kid.

“I got him second or third grade probably as a Christmas present,” he explained. “So I’ve had him a little while now. He’s in a big aquarium back home.”

Carson told the Los Angeles Times he wanted something fun for Christmas and thought his dad would get him a bearded dragon or maybe a lizard. Instead, he ordered Crocky J. from a gator farm in Florida.

The UPS driver who delivered Crocky J. figured something interesting might be inside the burlap sack he delivered, so he stuck around to see.

“Everybody was kind of freaking out,” Joseph Steele told the newspaper. “It was a pretty interesting morning.”

“We’ll flip on the shower and kind of spray him down and scrape him off and stuff, his back,” Carson told the Times. “Because sometimes he’ll get algae on his back, so he loves it, he’ll just sit there.”

A fan shared on X , “I can’t stop thinking about Carson Steele owning an alligator named Crocky-J. The NFL is so back.”
