Lyon County Fair moving to new location
ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa (KELO) – As we’ve seen over the last week or so, portions of Rock Rapids, Iowa received a lot of water. One area that is heavily damaged by flooding is the fairgrounds. The county has now put its racing season and hold and moved the Lyon County Fair.
Disaster Recovery Centers open in Spencer and Rock Valley; Spencer officials urge civilians to stay weather aware in the midst of forecasted weather
DES MOINES, Iowa (KTIV) -After last week’s flooding, Disaster Recovery Centers will open in two Siouxland locations. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will open a Disaster Recovery Center on Tuesday. July 2 beginning at 1 p.m. in Spencer Iowa, according to the Iowa Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.

Federal Help Available for Locally Flood Damaged Areas
Governor Kim Reynolds and the administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency surveyed flood damage in Rock Valley, Spencer, and Cherokee on Thursday. They saw homes with foundations caved in by high water levels on the Little Sioux River. Five counties are approved for individual assistance from FEMA under a Presidential Disaster Declaration, while nine counties qualify for federal help to rebuild flooded infrastructure. Cherokee County is not one of them, but Reynolds says that could change as more information is turned in.
