Well over 3.5 million Texans were forced to be without power to warm their homes and the Texas Department of State Health Services declared that 246 was the official death toll because of Winter Storm Uri in Texas. Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott asked the Republican-controlled Texas State Legislature to conduct investigations into what preparations and decisions were made by ERCOT in advance of Winter Storm Uri.
