    Enjoy the variety of the Iowa City corridor this weekend from book sales to blues music

    Enjoy a relaxing weekend in Iowa City as August kicks into high gear. Recover from a hot and humid week by indulging in these laid-back events, from the annual Friends of the Coralville Public Library Book Sale to innovative live performances.

    Here are four things to do in the Iowa City area this weekend.

    Coralville Library Book Sale

    Visit the Friends of the Coralville Public Library Book Sale Aug. 2-3. More than 7,000 books, from fiction and nonfiction to CDs and DVDs, will be offered. Guests pay what they want as a donation to the library. The sale starts at 10 a.m. on Friday and goes until 5 p.m. The sale runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.

    Catfish Keith at The James Theater

    Catfish Keith has been an innovator in acoustic blues since the 1980s. Renowned for his fingerpicking guitar skills and powerful and passionate vocals, Catfish Kieth is bringing his live acoustic act to the James Theater at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3. Tickets are available for purchase on the James Theater’s website and cost $25.

    Summer of the Arts Free Movie Series

    The Summer of the Arts Free Movie Series is a summer tradition. With about a month left in the season, catch the upcoming screening of Disney’s “Hercules” at Pepperwood Plaza. The movie will start at 8:30 p.m. at sundown.

    Visit Pam’s Country Floral and Flower Farm

    During the peak of Iowa’s blooming season, Pam’s Country Floral and Flower Farm in Amana allows people to wander the fields and pick seasonal bouquets directly from the source. The farm is open from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday for groups and individuals. The cost is $30 per bucket. Pam’s Country Floral and Flower Farm is also open on Wednesdays from 4:30  to 7 p.m.
