AGWSR sweeps Iowa Falls-Alden in baseball and softball
The AGWSR summer sports teams both defeated Iowa Falls-Alden at home Monday. The Cougar softball team won 9-6 and the baseball team won 14-12. In a back-and-forth baseball game, AGWSR took control with four runs in the first, three in the second and seven in the third for a 14-1 lead. After scoring one in the top of the third, the Cadets answered with eight in the top of the fourth. The fifth inning was scoreless, and the Cadets cut the deficit to two with two in the sixth and one in the seventh. Iowa Falls-Alden (4-16) will be at Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. AGWSR (7-18) has ended the regular season on a three-game win streak and will next compete in Saturday’s district quarterfinal against Colo-Nesco.
North Iowa woman picked up on a warrant in Hardin County
Last night the Hardin County Sheriff’s Department arrested 41-year-old Misty Stuart of Mason City who was wanted on a Hardin County warrant for a probation violation from the original charges of possession of methamphetamine and for 3rd degree theft. Stuart is being held at the Hardin County Jail.

UI art professor and students cross the state on hand-built bikes
Editor’s note: For six days at the beginning of June, The Daily Iowan photojournalist Jordan Barry participated in a bike tour with University of Iowa Art School professor Steve McGuire and his students as they biked from Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Muscatine, Iowa. McGuire and his students rode bikes they put together in his Hand Built Bike classes 490 miles across the state, averaging 83 miles per day, from the Missouri River to the Mississippi River.
