Southern Iowa got a good soaking of rain overnight. This all worked out in the best way because the rain avoided northwest Iowa where flooding is a major problem, and areas creeping back towards drought in southern Iowa received much-needed rain.

A sharp cut-off in rain totals can be seen right through Des Moines. Norwalk received more than 2 and a half inches of rain, the Des Moines airport received just over one inch and in Urbandale on the north side of the metro, only a half inch was measured.
