Prince Harry thought 'furious' King Charles would 'forgive him' after bombshell memoir

A Royal expert has suggested that Prince Harry expected his father, King Charles, to forgive him after a rocky couple of years. According to Royal author Tom Quinn, despite Harry's biting comments, he assumed reconciliation with his father was always on the cards.

Speaking to the Mirror, Quinn, who authored 'Scandals of the Royal Palaces: An Intimate Memoir of Royals Behaving Badly', remarked: "Despite all his criticisms Harry always assumed he would be forgiven by his father. He thought Charles would make amends for the hurt that, in Harry's view, justified the criticisms."

Since stepping back from Royal duties in 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have resided in Los Angeles with their children Archie and Lilibet. Harry's memoir 'Spare' dropped bombshells on the Royal Family in January 2023 and became the fastest-selling non-fiction title in UK history.

Meanwhile, another commentator on Royal affairs, Ingrid Seward, is of the opinion that it'll be Meghan Markle who might write the next big memoir, not Prince Harry. She was quoted as saying: "I can't see that Harry's up for writing another book. I would think the other book, the real corker, would be Meghan. That's got to be [on its way] because that's really going to be the only way she's going to make serious money is [to write it]."

According to the Mirror, the monarch is reportedly "filled with horror" at the prospect of Meghan Markle, Harry's wife, penning a personal memoir with contributions from Harry. It appears that the King hasn't seen his grandchildren through his son and Meghan for over two years, with no signs of this changing anytime soon.

Tom revealed: "Despite Harry's attacks on the royal family his father has avoided responding by attacking his son publicly, but privately, King Charles is furious. So much so that he is now refusing to take calls from his son."

Royal commentator Robert Jobson has given his take on why King Charles may have ceased taking calls from Prince Harry, as he explained to The Daily Mail's Palace Confidential podcast: "He has taken them in the past, but I think anybody that knows the situation, who would want to keep taking calls if the conversation just ends in a slanging match about money and legal fees?"

Elaborating on why the monarch is not engaging with his son's efforts to mend fences, Robert continued: "I think the King has got too much on his plate. He's been not well at all and he's been dealing with that. He's only just become the King, he's got too much to deal with, rather than dealing with Harry's constant demands. "

It's reported that King Charles is currently receiving treatment after being diagnosed with cancer earlier this year. Reports suggest that Harry last met with his father in February at Clarence House during a brief solo trip back to the UK, following the public announcement of the King's health issues.
