Mississippi wife 'shot and killed husband in fit of rage at gas station' after chilling Facebook post

A Mississippi woman has been accused of shooting and killing her husband in a fit of rage at a petrol station this week , according to the police. Semyia Jones, 26, has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of her husband Markquarius Jones, says Police Chief Greg Collins.

Following a reported shooting, police were summoned to the nearby Baptist Medical Center on Thursday afternoon. The wife is alleged to have shot her husband at the Marathon on Highway 12 East, based on police findings from their investigation.

Markquarius was declared dead at the hospital.

Semyia has been charged with murder, although a detailed account of the events leading up to the shooting has not yet been released. Heartbreaking tributes have been paid to Markquarius online as friends and family shared photos of the devoted father.

In a chilling post last year, Semyia posted a glowing tribute to him praising his parenting skills. Subsequent posts hinted at problems between the couple, but the police have not yet disclosed any details about the killing.

This death follows a separate incident in Mississippi last year where a woman was charged with murder in March 2023 after she allegedly shot her husband following an argument that she had broadcast via Facebook Live to her friends and family.

In a chilling livestream, 28 year old Kadejah Michelle Brown from Columbus and her husband Jerry Brown were seen in a heated argument, according to police. The couple had been arguing for most of the night, Lowndes County Sheriff Eddie Hawkins said, with Jerry trying to leave the flat to calm things down.

"What is the conversation you want to have," Kadejah repeatedly asks him as he gets ready to go. "Do not touch me! Tell your daughter to keep her hands off me," he retorts, holding a phone to his ear while another woman, possibly Kadejah's mother, can be heard in the same room.

"You're supposed to be here! " Kadejah scolds him for not helping with their children.

"Don't touch me! I'll call the police over that! " Jerry warns her as the argument escalates and becomes physical. "This is your family, you're supposed to be here helping, taking care of the kids," Kadejah's mother can be heard saying.

The screen goes black at one point, but the escalating argument can still be heard for a few seconds before a single gunshot rings out and loud screams erupt. Amid the chaos, a child's cry can also be heard.

Brown admitted to the murder earlier this year and was sentenced to 40 years.
