Olympics Closing Ceremony disrupted as 'everyone' trips and falls on carpet

Sunday night sees the Olympics draw to a close for another four years, after an incredible showcase of sporting excellence in Paris .

The official closing ceremony took place in Paris on Sunday night, with plenty of the best athletes in the world taking part , along with some top musical artists .

But the event has not gone off without a hitch , with audio issues plaguing the event , and also the strange phenomenon of people falling and tripping over .

Viewers took to social media to point out that plenty of people seemed to be falling over, with one person writing: "Someone get a Trip Hazard sign out."

Another wrote: "Why is everyone tripping? What's going on out there?"

Someone more earnestly said: "Someone needs to sort the trip hazard out or they’ll be a serious injury."

It appears as though a carpet that people are unable to see well enough is to blame for the trips and falls that have impacted several athletes.

"They need to straighten this carpet out. These athletes about to fall on they ass on international television. Everyone is tripping," one wrote.

"Somebody is going to fall completely over soon," a viewer wrote, while another said, "Someone’s gonna trip and fall face first."

The Olympic Closing Ceremony features the traditional parade of athletes, a show of gratitude to volunteers, medal presentations, and the extinguishing of the Olympic flame, alongside some musical performances from the likes of Billie Eilish and Snoop Dogg.
