Ex-UFC champion Ronda Rousey has expressed regret for an old post where she shared a conspiracy theory video about the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting .

Eleven years after the tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut, which took the lives of 20 children and six adults, resulting in one of America's bleakest moments, Rousey addressed the issue. Adam Lanza, who was behind the brutal attack, ended his own life at the scene, aged 20.

Amidst the profound sorrow experienced by those affected by the Sandy Hook tragedy, there have been insensible claims by conspiracy theorists disputing the reality of the event.

Notably, Alex Jones, an incendiary far-right figure, was recently mandated to compensate Sandy Hook families with almost $1 billion for perpetuating the notion that the massacre was fabricated.

Two years ago, Rousey retweeted content on Twitter, now referred to as X, casting doubt on the authenticity of the calamitous event, describing the footage as "extremely interesting, and must-watch".

Yet, when confronted on Reddit during a recent AMA session, the MMA icon who transitioned to wrestling in WWE faced a barrage of inquiries about her past social media activity. Rousey replied with an apology through a statement on X Friday morning, deeming her share of the clip as "the single most regrettable decision" she's ever made.

Ronda Rousey's recent apology regarding her past actions has opened up a dialogue among the fans. The statement kicked off with, "I can't say how many times I've redrafted this apology over the last 11 years. How many times I've convinced myself it wasn't the right time or that I'd be causing even more damage by giving it."

The former fighter admitted with regret, "But eleven years ago I made the single most regrettable decision of my life. I watched a Sandy Hook conspiracy video and reposted it on twitter. I didn't even believe it, but was so horrified at the truth that I was grasping for an alternative fiction to cling to instead. I quickly realised my mistake and took it down, but the damage was done."

Rousey elaborated on why she kept silent: "By some miracle it seemingly slipped under the media's radar, I was never asked about it so I never spoke of it again, afraid that calling attention to it would have the opposite intended effect - it could increase the views of those conspiracy videos, and selfishly, inform even more people I was ignorant, self absorbed, and tone deaf enough to share one in the first place."

She explained the dilemma she faced in coming forward with her apology: ""So I convinced myself that apologizing would just reopen the wound for no other reason than me selfishly trying to make myself feel better, that I would hurt those suffering even more and possibly lead more people down the black hole of conspiracy bull by it being brought up again just so I could try to shake the label of being a 'Sandy Hook truther'.

Rousey disclosed that her attempt to apologize in her book, 'Our Fight', was halted by her publisher who "begged" her to remove it, concerned that it would "overshadow everything else and do more harm than good". She confessed: "But honestly I deserve to be hated, labeled, detested, resented and worse for it. I deserve to lose out on every opportunity, I should have been canceled, I would have deserved it. I still do."

Rousey further stated: "I apologize that this came 11 years too late, but to those affected by the Sandy Hook massacre, from the bottom of my heart and depth of my soul I am so so sorry for the hurt I caused."
