King Charles 'wants Prince Harry back' but one royal poses a 'major barrier' to reconciliation

After years of strained relations, King Charles is reportedly open to mending fences with his son Prince Harry , but there's a significant obstacle in the way . The relationship between the two has been strained since the Duke's relocation to the US , and it has only worsened with his explosive memoir and Netflix documentary.

However, the monarch appears keen on repairing their once close bond , as insiders claim he "misses his son".

King Charles , who is the King and also heads the Church of England, has allegedly sought advice from religious leaders on how to broker a 'truce' with Harry. A source confided to the Daily Mail : "Harry will always be Charles's much-loved son. He has faith that Harry could return. He misses the bond they once had, and the door will always remain open to him and his family. He does not want years of discord and disharmony clouding his reign."

"He [Charles] still loves Harry and wants him back for personal reasons regardless that he and Meghan do not [want to] return to royal life."

While there may be renewed hope for reconciliation between father and son, one major hurdle remains - Prince William reportedly has no interest in making amends with his brother.

The paper suggests that William has dismissed the idea of a reunion, describing it as a 'major barrier to peace' in the ongoing Royal feud.

A pal of Harry's has confided in PEOPLE magazine that the Prince's calls are seemingly being ignored by his father. Despite a "positive" encounter in the UK after the health scare involving the King's cancer, their relationship is believed to have worsened.

During a visit to Britain in May for an anniversary celebration at St Paul's Cathedral honouring 10 years of the Invictus Games, Harry missed out on seeing his father. A release implied the King's schedule was too full to accommodate a meeting.

However, there were claims that Charles had extended an invite for Harry to stay at Buckingham Palace during his London stint; an offer Harry reportedly turned down in favour of a hotel.

An insider informed The Times: "I don't know what more the King could have done. He offered Harry to stay at Buckingham Palace but it seems even that wasn't good enough. It was far from clear what the duke's plans were. When it came to it there was no space in the King's diary in between treatment and other scheduled events."
