Fans of the Royal Family were delighted when Meghan Markle and Prince Harry shared the news of their pregnancy, waiting with bated breath for a first look at the latest Windsor after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's little one was born.

But Prince Archie's arrival broke from the usual royal traditions, causing confusion among followers of the monarchy .

The Sussex pair have always followed their own path, and the birth of their baby boy was no departure from this trend. However, critical voices have emerged accusing the Royal Family of "deception" and propagating a "lie" about Archie's birthdate .

The mix-up kicked off on 6 May 2019, with Buckingham Palace initially announcing that the Duchess had gone into labour early that day, only to later correct that Archie had already been born at 5:26 in the morning.

In contrast, Kate stayed true to a newer Royal custom by posing outside the Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital with each of her three children in turn, reports the Mirror .

Speaking during a podcast, she candidly shared that while she appreciated public support, finding the ordeal "slightly terrifying" She also recognised people's keen interest but admitted there were "mixed emotions" involved.

Choosing to forego the conventional public photo-call post-delivery, Harry and Meghan opted instead for more private first images of Archie, which were captured at Windsor Castle some days after he came into the world.

Royal historian and author Robert Lacey has aired his bewilderment in the Daily Mail regarding the secrecy of Archie's birth, calling it "deception".

The writer behind 'Charles lll: New King. New Court. The Inside Story' remarked: "There was the deception over the announcement of Archie's birth, which unlike every other royal birth of modern times took place in total secrecy. Buckingham Palace announced at 2 pm on May 6, 2019, that Meghan had gone into labour that morning - when in fact, she had safely given birth to baby Archie eight hours earlier, at 5.26 am."

Lacey also noted the break from tradition by Harry and Meghan in not disclosing the identities of Archie's godparents.

In their Netflix six-parter, Meghan justified her choice to have a private birth at Portland Hospital, saying: "There was already the pressure of the picture on the steps. ... But I had been really worried going into that labour, because I'm older, I didn't know if I'd have to have a c-section, and I had a very longstanding relationship with my doctor, and that's who I trusted with my pregnancy."

During a moment in the documentary where he appears alongside Meghan, Harry emphasised the "abuse" they endured for deviating from Royal customs, stating: "The amount of abuse that we got, especially you, but both of us, for not wanting to serve our child up on a silver platter, was incredible."
