A major Hollywood star has been spotted at Celtic Park for the first game of the season against rivals Rangers. Christoph Waltz was seen taking in the views at Parkhead , home of Celtic FC in Glasgow, Scotland, on Sunday.

The Oscar winner was snapped in Glasgow at the premier game in club football as the curtain went up on the first Old Firm derby of the season. Managers Brendan Rodgers and Philippe Clement will meet multiple times across the campaign but Clement is still looking to make his mark against Celtic, who dominated the game with a 3-0 victory.

Waltz – known for roles in the likes of Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained – was the surprise face pre-match as he threw his weight behind Celtic alongside other celebs including Sir Rod Stewart.

The Austrian actor, who appeared in the James Bond film Spectre and The Legend of Tarzan, regularly plays villains and has won two Oscars for Best Supporting Actor for his roles in Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained.

Waltz is in Glasgow filming the new Frankenstein film, a reboot of the horror tale based on the 1818 novel by Mary Shelley. The new film is directed by renowned filmmaker Guillermo del Toro and will also star Jacob Elordi.

Filming has been taking place at Glasgow Cathedral. Del Toro is known for directing such films as Pan's Labyrinth, Hellboy, The Shape of Water and more.

Celtic recently wrapped up a successful summer USA tour where they came up trumps in a string of pre-season friendlies against the likes of DC United and Man City.

Thousands of supporters and Irish expats from across the US traveled to watch the Scottish champions play underneath the American sunshine.
