Scottie Scheffler, a star of the PGA Tour, is currently the highest earner in golf this season , despite the vast wealth associated with LIV Golf .

Scheffler ended his impressive 2024 season on a high note by winning the FedEx Cup bonus for the first time after triumphing at the Tour Championship in Atlanta. Starting the staggered strokes event at 10-under-par, Scheffler finished the week at 30-under, four shots ahead of second-place Collin Morikawa.

This marked the world No. 1's seventh PGA Tour victory of the season, and with each win came substantial payouts, the largest of which was a $25 million check handed to Scheffler on Sunday.

In total, the 28-year-old Texan's earnings for the season amounted to an astounding $62,228,357, far surpassing his PGA Tour rivals. He also outperformed those in the LIV Golf setup, with Scheffler's 2024 total being £46 million more than the breakaway league's current top earner, Jon Rahm.

Rahm, who has earned $16 million so far with two LIV events remaining, is slightly ahead of Joaquin Niemann in second place, who has made just over $14 million in 14 starts on the breakaway league. However, there is still time for Rahm and others to increase their 2024 payout totals.

The Saudi-backed circuit is gearing up for its final event before the season-ending Team Championship in Dallas. With the regular term closing, either Rahm or Niemann will vie for a massive $18 million reward as they top the league's standings.

Scheffler is set for a well-earned rest until the Presidents Cup, following a close to the PGA Tour season at East Lake. Apart from scooping seven PGA Tour titles, Scheffler also boasts an Olympic gold medal after his victory in Paris, beating Tommy Fleetwood.

Following his recent triumphs, world No. 1 Scheffler expressed his exhaustion post-tournament: "If you can describe it in words, more power to you because I don't think I can. It's been a long year. It's been a very fun year. I think emotionally right now I'm pretty drained."

He's keenly looking forward to resting before gearing up for the Presidents Cup, saying: "So I'm looking forward to going home and getting rest for a week or so before I start prepping for the Presidents Cup because that's a tournament that I really want us to go out there and win. I really don't know how to put it into words. It's been a very eventful year but it's been really fun. You had the one weird spot there at Valhalla, which -- I just don't really know what to say about it, but everything else has been pretty special."
