Golfer Sahith Theegala's girlfriend fumes after he refuses request despite winning $7.5m

Sahith Theegala may have bagged millions at the Tour Championship, but he's not rushing to spoil his partner with the winnings.

The 26-year-old golfer clinched third place behind champion Scottie Scheffler and runner-up Colin Morikawa , ending his game with a score of -24. This left him six strokes adrift of the top spot yet comfortably clear by five of Russell Henley, Adam Scott, and Xander Schauffele, who collectively snagged fourth place.

Although this event spotlighted one of Theegala's standout performances , the golfer didn't hesitate to penalize himself with two extra shots during the third round on Saturday. Demonstrating integrity, Theegala alerted an official after he disturbed sand in a fairway bunker on the par-four third hole.

Despite his self-imposed penalty, Theegala pocketed a massive $7.5 million from the richest PGA Tour event. Nevertheless, upgrading flight seats for himself and Juju Julianna for their return trip wasn't on his agenda.

Juju vented her frustration on social media about what she considers to be his overly prudent fiscal stance, reports the Mirror US . In a revealing TikTok video about the couple's travels, she lamented their less-than-luxurious arrangements due to Theegala's choice. "When my boyfriend wins $ 7.5 million in FedEx Cup and we don't fly private home," she expressed.

She displayed her discomfort due to cramped conditions, mentioning, "My shoulder is dislocated literally, really badly, and I'm in pain all the time. See this arm, this is far as I can reach it, and the same with this side over here."

Juju, a regular supporter of Theegala at golf tournaments, appeared to make light of her injuries as she wasn't wearing a sling on her right arm. She was sympathetic towards his honesty on Saturday, which potentially cost him an extra $5 million since he ended up just two shots behind the second-place finisher Morikawa.

Theegala himself expressed no remorse over the incident, saying: "So I am glad I brought it up right away. I know the rules of golf a little bit better now. There is a lot of silly stuff you can do in the bunker.

"You can chuck a club in the bunker, you can use your golf club as a stand in the bunker. As long as it's not right next to your ball. There's a lot of things you can do. But unfortunately, if it's in the area affecting the lie and the swing of your shot, regardless of intent, it's a two-shot penalty."

Having climbed to a career-high No. 11 in the world rankings, Theegala's sole PGA Tour win was at the Fortinet Championship last September.

This followed his best-ever finish in a major, coming ninth at the Masters.

This year, he finished tied for 12th at the US PGA. With the Ryder Cup 2025 on the horizon, and set to take place at Bethpage next September, all eyes are on Theegala as a potential key player for the event.
