Angel Reese faced criticism for her performance during a critical moment as the Chicago Sky suffered another blow to their playoff hopes.

In the WNBA clash on Tuesday night, the Sky were defeated by the Las Vegas Aces with a score of 71-90, marking their seventh consecutive loss. Despite Reese scoring 12 points, the substantial 19-point defeat underlined the massive task ahead for Chicago's playoff ambitions.

Particularly pointed out was Reese's episode near the end of the 2nd quarter when she went for a layup but met Megan Gustafson's block. As Reese stumbled off-court, visibly frustrated, the Aces swiftly launched a counterattack.

Chelsea Gray carried the ball forward and found Gustafson, who, unguarded, received an easy pass at the three-point line. The Spanish Olympian then took her chance to perfectly execute the shot while Reese could barely be seen returning to the frame.

Fans picked up on Reese's body language and lethargic defense through social media commentary. One spectator noted, "Angel looked tired already with 3 min left in the 1st," amidst the discussion on her performanc., reports the Mirror US .

A fan quipped sarcastically: "Solid defensive effort by the future ROTY."

Another pointed out her perceived lackluster effort stating, "Too early in the game to be jogging back on D". Meanwhile, a third humorously commented: "This is clearly a deep fake. I've been informed Angel Reese is a beast offensively and defensively."

Barstool Sports' chief Dave Portnoy, a die-hard supporter of Caitlin Clark, didn't hold back on his critique of Reese after the Sky were down 31-47 at the break. Taking to social media, Portnoy wrote with biting irony: "Angel fixing to go off in 2nd half vs Vegas. Down 20 at half. She's got 5 pts, 1/5 from field (20%), 8 boards. Its officially Angel time. She goes demon mode in situations like these."

Chicago currently clings to the last playoff spot at eighth, but with a season scorecard that reads 11-22, they're neck-and-neck with the ninth-placed Atalanta Dream and only just ahead of Eastern Conference's basement team Washington Mystics.

Anticipation builds as Chicago looks forward to facing off against bottom-dwellers Los Angeles Sparks, who have notched up a measly 7-25 record; this matchup might well serve as Chicago Sky's best shot to snap their streak of losses. After the match, Reese was notably absent from the press conference, leaving her teammate Dana Evans to inspire the team and the fans with a rallying cry that the Sky are set on reversing their fortunes.

"This league is so good that if you soak in a loss, you will not be good for the next game," Evans stated. "We have just got to be ready to play. We are not going to give up, we are not going to quit, we want to get in the playoffs. We are going to stay together."
