The legal battle involving Meghan Markle and her half-sister Samantha escalated this week, with the Duchess's solicitors striking back over title blunders .

They argue that Meghan's team "erroneously" neglected to use her Royal moniker, as tensions continue to rise .

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, has been embroiled in a year-long courtroom drama with her half-sister concerning statements made during her bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview, which hit Netflix screens in 2022 - Samantha is suing for defamation.

Currently, the dispute is before the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, centering on Samantha's grievances regarding Meghan's claim that she altered her surname from Rasmussen to Markle following the revelation of Meghan's romance with Prince Harry.

Another bone of contention lies in Meghan's comments about their childhood bond, with Meghan asserting to Winfrey, "I grew up as an only child, which everyone who grew up around me knows, and I wished I had siblings."

The crux of the ongoing case now focuses on Meghan's designation, with her legal representatives contending that she has consistently been mislabelled without her proper title: Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex.

This oversight appears to be rampant throughout the lawsuit, with even formal records failing to acknowledge her as 'Meghan Markle,' omitting her ducal status.

However, after more than two years since the commencement of the proceedings, Meghan's lawyers have highlighted the misnomer in official court filings, pointedly using the term "erroneously."

The document bears the signature of Michael J. Kump, legal representative for Meghan Markle. The legal battle remains ongoing, with further proceedings expected this month.
