In-state 2026 defensive back committed to Alabama flips to Gus Malzahn, UCF
Jamarrion Gordon, a three-star defensive back in the 2026 class, flipped his commitment Friday afternoon from Alabama to Central Florida. Gordon -- from Jackson, Alabama in Clarke County -- had committed to the Tide in May, and was one of two 2026 prospects committed to Alabama. He now becomes the second 2026 commit for coach Gus Malzahn and UCF.

Bonanza Day Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo Registration Deadline August 1
The Mobile Section of the Alabama Associated General Contractors (AGC) of America is hosting the 56th Annual Bonanza Day Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo and Golf Tournament on August 9 and 10. There are already more than 500 people registered for the event, and the registration deadline is August 1. The Big Game Fishing Club at Orange Beach Marina will again be headquarters for this event. The golf tournament, which is currently sold out and has a waiting list, will be played Friday at Craft Farms Golf Club over the Cotton Creek and Cypress Bend courses. Proceeds from this year’s Chipping Contest will be donated to the Alabama AGC Scholarship Fund.

BAYOU LA BATRE, Ala. (WALA) - Representative Chip Brown of Alabama House District 105 is set to introduce House Bill One during next year’s legislative session. Passenger rail service could return to the Gulf Coast between New Orleans and Mobile early next year, thanks to a new agreement between the city of Mobile and Amtrak. Mobile city leaders said last week they have finalized language for a funding agreement and ground lease that will pave the way for construction of a new train stop — the final hurdle needed before the service can begin.
