A 3-year-old Isanti girl suffered severe burns during a camping trip in Wisconsin with her family on July 22 and remains in the hospital, needing multiple skin grafts.

Maggie Jameston and her family were on their yearly camping trip when she tripped over a root and fell into the fire while roasting marshmallows, according to the family's GoFundMe .

"They were quick to spring into action. Her clothes were on fire - she was on fire," writes the grandmother, Jen Jameston, on the fundraiser. The parents called 911 but rushed her to the hospital themselves to avoid waiting for an ambulance.

"Maggie will be in the burn unit for approximately a month. She will need multiple skin grafts and constant care," Jameston writes. "Maggie has a long road of surgeries and healing ahead, followed by physical therapy, OT, and personal therapy," the fundraiser reads.

She received second- and third-degree burns to 20% of her body and was due to undergo her first skin graft on Thursday. Maggie's grandmother set up a GoFundMe to help her parents with the 80-mile drive to and from the hospital.

"Maggie is an energetic, happy girl," the fundraiser reads. "She loves having dance parties to Joan Jett, Taylor Swift, Jelly Roll, and Disney music. She loves kayaking, camping, and playing at the park. She was supposed to be in preschool this year but will instead spend much of it in a hospital."

So far, $3,195 has been raised of the $5,000 goal.
