LiGreci’s Staaten: A timeless venue | Then and Now
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — LiGreci’s Staaten, the popular dining, catering, and event venue in West Brighton, was constructed in 1956 after a fire on December 5, 1955, destroyed the large house on the property, according to Staten Island Advance archives. Mike Bilotto was the proprietor until Nick LiGreci and his brother, Jack LiGreci, purchased it from Bilotto in 1971.

The School District’s HVAC Project Met with Supply Delays
NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ – Delays in supply deliveries have upended the district’s plan to complete the much-waited for and referendum-funded districtwide HVAC upgrade project this summer. Business Administrator James Testa gave the project update at the Thursday, July 25 Board of Education (BOE) meeting. Testa explained that he attends construction meetings with architects, engineers, contractors, and project foremen every two weeks. The latest meeting was on July 24. FDNY Commissioner Laura Kavanagh announces resignation date
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Commissioner Laura Kavanagh announced that she will be resigning from the FDNY in August after about two years heading the department. The first woman to lead the FDNY will serve her last day as commissioner on Aug. 7, “almost one month after she announced her scheduled departure and months after she initiated these conversations with administration leadership,” according to a statement released by the FDNY.

The scholarships are financed by a bequest from Adele DeLeeuw, longtime Plainfield resident, author of 75 books, journalist and arts activist. The Rotary Club of the Plainfields (Plainfield, North Plainfield and South Plainfield) administers the Adele DeLeeuw Scholarship Fund and is one of four Rotary clubs (including the Warren-Watchung Rotary) that provide scholarships from the Fund to students in their communities who pursue a course of study in poetry, art, journalism, writing or engineering.
