    Ithaca man arrested on burglary charge after foot chase

    ITHACA, N.Y. ( WETM ) — An Ithaca man is in custody after police responded to an active burglary on Monday on the city’s south end.

    According to Ithaca Police, 29-year-old Elliott Gagnon was arrested Monday, July 1, on the following charges:

    • Burglary in the second degree, a class C felony
    • Obstruction of government in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor
    • Criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a class A misdemeanor

    Police said that around 6 p.m. on Monday, units were sent to the 400 block of South Titus Ave for a burglary in progress.

    The report states that before police arrived, the victim found Gagnon inside his home, chased him out, and followed him to Center Street.

    Gagnon was pointed out to the police, and after being confronted, Gagnon ran with police chasing behind until he was brought down and arrested on West Clinton Street near South Plain Plain Street.
