    Police: Ithaca man arrested after stealing laptop

    ITHACA, N.Y. ( WETM ) – An Ithaca man has been arrested after police say that he stole a laptop from someone on Monday night.

    According to the Ithaca Police Department, Larry G. Payne Jr., 36, was arrested on the charge of burglary in the second degree (class C felony), among other offenses, after police say they tracked the stolen laptop to his location on Monday, July 29.

    Police say they were called to the 100 block of Cook Street after they received the report of a burglary around 10:30 p.m. on Monday. Upon arrival, the victim reported that their laptop had been stolen.

    Police were able to track the laptop via built-in GPS, which eventually led them to the area of the 300 block of E. State St., where Payne was found with the laptop. The laptop was then reclaimed, and Payne was taken into custody.

    Payne was then arraigned in the Ithaca City Court and taken to the Tompkins County Jail.
