Fire causes minor damage to rural Shattuc home
Sandoval Firemen report minor damage in a fire at the Beverly Pingsterhaus home on Hintz Road in rural Shattuc early Tuesday morning. Fire Chief Chad Parson says upon arrival the owner had most of the fire extinguished. He reports a fan placed in the crawl space to help reduce moisture caught fire. The fire scorched some floor joists and the underside of the flooring but was confined to the area of the burnt fan. Firemen investigated the area to make sure the fire was completely out.

What new Illinois laws mean for Oak Park
Illinois’ new laws went into effect July 1, including a minimum wage increase and a gas tax increase. In Chicago and in Cook County, which encompasses Oak Park, minimum wage workers will now make a base pay of $16.20 per hour. Before, the minimum wage was $15.80 per hour.
