Did you know there are several sites throughout the city with low or no-barrier jobs where you can work and get paid the same day - the program is called Same Day Work and Pay?
In 2020, in response to the economic effects of the pandemic, the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS) expanded its workforce development activities by launching the newly-named “Same Day Work and Pay” program with funding from the City of Philadelphia.
Through this program, PHS partners with community organizations to employ under and unemployed Philadelphians to perform daily work assignments such as clearing vacant lots, cleaning street corridors, and completing other community improvement tasks. Participants receive $100 per day, and are paid on-site where they can also connect with social services support.
PHS Program with 9th Council District Project and GOSP
A partnership with Giving of Self Partnership, Inc. (GOSP), Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS), and City Council's 9th Council District is paying $100 per day to help clean vacant lots, city streets, and other public spaces. PHS Nicetown and Tioga Greening Plan
This March, PHS is bringing our paid, six-week ($450 per week) job training to Nicetown and Tioga! Do you know someone looking for a job opportunity? Participants will take part in classroom and hands-on training in basic ecology, landscape maintenance, and tool and equipment operation. Additional workshops in job readiness will also be included in the training. Everybody needs a library card and should try to visit their local library a few times a year. The library is such an underutilized resource. In addition to books, they have countless workshops resume writing to basic computer classes - both in-person and virtually. For example:

The VITA program has operated for over 50 years. VITA sites offer free tax help to people who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns, including:

Limited English-speaking taxpayers
