Carnival Cruise Line has announced a new convenience for guests using CPAP machines: pre-orderable distilled water.

This essential water is crucial for maintaining CPAP machine function and ensuring uninterrupted sleep for travelers with sleep apnea or other breathing disorders.

Previously, CPAP users had to request distilled water upon boarding or call the cruise line in advance to arrange for delivery. This could lead to delays.

Accroding to news reports, with the new pre-order option, guests can now guarantee a supply of distilled water for their entire voyage.

"Finally, now available for pre-order," said Carnival's Brand Ambassador John Heald on his Facebook post. "Thank you to The beards for listening to me on your behalf."

Distilled water is necessary for CPAP machines to prevent buildup and ensure proper functioning. Using tap or filtered water can introduce impurities that can clog the machine's components and potentially compromise the user's breathing.

The pre-orderable distilled water is available on Carnival's website at a price of $5.90 per gallon. Guests can order multiple gallons but smaller quantities are not currently offered.

This is the most affordable water option available from Carnival, as compared to the Crystal Geyser filtered natural spring water, which is priced at $5.31 for a 50.72-ounce bottle.

While filtered spring water is treated to remove impurities, it may still contain some minerals and electrolytes.

Distilled water, on the other hand, is created through a process called distillation, which ensures the purest form of water without any added chemicals or particles.

Some CPAP users have reported that the price of distilled water has increased with the new pre-order option.

Previously, it was reportedly available for $3.50 per gallon when ordered onboard or pre-cruise. However, it's unclear if there have been any changes in the quantity or if additional fees are applied to online orders.

Carnival Cruise Line has also increased the price of its bottled water several times in recent years.

The current price for a 12-pack of bottled water is $17.64 when pre-ordered online, up from $4.95 two years ago.
