I Left My Husband's Glasses on the Ship: Cruise Line Explains to Passenger How to Get Items Back

What happens when a cruise passenger forgets a personal item on the cruise ship?

Once someone has disembarked the ship at the final port there is no going back. Even if they know exactly where they left something and want to retrieve it, they won't be able to get it.

A frustrated passenger recently reached out to John Heald, Brand Ambassador for Carnival Cruise Line, after accidentally leaving their husband's eyeglasses in their cabin during disembarkation.

This was the message from the passenger that Heald posted on his Facebook page:

"In the chaos that is disembarkation morning, my hubby's eyeglasses were left in our cabin," the passenger wrote. "We realized as we drove out of the parking lot. We went back and spoke with the staff in the terminal area. They told us we could not get back on the ship. We knew the eyeglasses were on the bedside but this refusal to help was infuriating."

Heald responded with empathy and understanding, explaining that while security protocols prevent passengers from re-boarding after disembarkation, there is still hope for recovering lost items.

Carnival, according to Heald, deals with roughly 1,000 lost or forgotten items each week. Eyeglasses are a common occurrence, alongside books, clothes, phones, and even a prosthetic leg -- believe it or not.

"We demanded to speak to the Radiance guest relations manager. Again, we were refused. John, this is terrible customer service. These were expensive eyeglasses. We need them returned to us immediately. Are you the person to do this? What do we have to do? This is not good enough for a company like Carnival," the passenger continued.

"Here's the good news," Heald responded. "We have a wonderful Lost and Found department. If you lose anything while you are on board, please go to the Guest Services Desk and they will help you. If you get home and realize you have left something on board, there is a form to complete."

He provided the link to the form: https://www.chargerback.com/ReportLostItemCBEmbed.asp...

Heald assured the passenger that Carnival's crew on the Radiance would do their best to get the item back as soon as possible. However, he cautioned that with so many items to deal with, it might take some time.
