    JHS track competes in Bowie

    JHS track competes in Bowie Brian Smith Wed, 03/06/2024 - 5:07 pm Weather hampered Jacksboro’s track teams Thursday, Feb. 29 in Rhonda’s Relays at Bowie High School, both the Tigers and Tigerettes opting to leave the meet following field events and the 3,200-meter run because of the weather. In varsity girls action, Kylie and Brailyn Tullous tied for 1st in the pole vault with 9’ efforts. The Tullous sisters were 1-2 in the long jump with Kylie winning with a 17’2” and Brailyn finishing with a 16’10” leap. Holly Lehman was 3rd with a 16’5 1/2”. Lehman was 2nd and Kylie Tullous 3rd in the triple jump with leaps of 32’5 and 31’9”, respectively. Judit Herrera finished 2nd in the varsity girls 3,200-meter run with a 13:44.46 time with Jocelyn Santillana 6th in 14:59.02. Landrie Valenzuela and Brooke Reaves were 2-3 in the shot put with efforts of 36’5 1/2” and 33’8”. The pair were 1-5 in the discus with Valenzuela winning the event with a 109’9” and Reaves throwing a 70’1”. In JV girls action, Rylee Bennett won the pole vault with a 6’6” leap. Allie White was 2nd in the long jump with a 13’ 7 1/2”. Jackie Ramos was 3rd in the discus with a 61’ 10 1/2” with Lizzy Gonzales 5th after a 57’2” throw. Gonzales was 6th with a 24’2” throw in the shot put. On the field, Jaxson Hubble won the wheelchair shot put with a 22’ 3 1/2” throw. Luke Sams was 4th in the triple jump with a 39’5 3/4”. Cannon Valenzuela was tied for 7th in the high jump with a 5’4”. Jackson McComis and Jeff Treadway were 3-4 in the discus with throws of 109’2” and 108’ 4 1/2”, respectively. In JV boys action, Joxan Delgado was 2nd in the shot put with a 36’ 1/4” throw with Rodrigo Cruz 3rd with a 35’5 1/2” and Zeb Weaver 6th with a 31’ 3/4”. Garrison Johnson won the JV long jump with a 17’2” leap. Jerin Luhrsen was 2nd in the JV triple jump with a 36’2” and Johnson 6th with a 35’2”. Wyatt Gavit was 2nd in the discus with a 111’ throw with teammate Will Treadway 3rd with a 110’6”. The teams return home Thursday, March 7 to host their track meet. Field events begin at 2:30 p.m., with the 3,200-meter run at 3 p.m. and the rest of the running finals starting at 5 p.m.
