The Herald’s Athletes of the Week are Emma Gray, of Jacksboro, Evan Thompson, of Perrin, and Evan Ford, of Bryson. Emma Gray, JHS The senior third baseman had a multihit day in helping the Tigerettes softball team remain perfect in District 7-3A. Gray opened a 14-3 victory over Iowa Park with a leadoff single, helping the squad get out to a 3-0 lead. She then added a double down the right field line to open the fifth inning, later scoring on a groundout. She was safe on a fielder’s choice in the seventh inning where she scored another run. Evan Thompson, PWHS Thompson was solid at the plate, going 4-8 in the two games with five RBIs and scored six runs. He had a good series on the mound as well, pitching three innings without allowing a hit. He gave up one earned run and struck out five. Evan Ford, BHS The junior pitcher had a solid outing Friday against Graford in their loss to the Rabbits. He threw relief for four innings and allowed no runs on one hit. He walked one and struck out nine.
