Bennett celebrated his birthday with a bi-district Game 1 win Thursday, April 25 over Peaster, 11-6. “It was the only thing I wanted,” Bennett said with a chuckle after the game. The No. 3 in Class 3A Tigerettes (29-3) completed the best-of-three sweep Friday, April 26 with a 153, six-inning victory of the Lady ‘Hounds (19-11). Brooke Reaves got the start in the pitching circle. Reaves allowed eight hits but struck out six and walked five. Jacksboro led from start to finish after Reaves got out of a bases loaded one out jam in the first. Kylie Tullous opened with a bunt single and scored as Rylee Mathis doubled into the right center field gap. With two out, Reaves aided her cause with a double to plate Mathis for a 2-0 lead. Courtesy runner Holly Lehman and Brailyn Tullous, who walked, were stranded as a fly ball to left ended the frame. Peaster got on the board with a single third inning run which the Tigerettes countered with a pair in the bottom of the inning. Kylie Tullous reached on an error and stole second, Mathis again brought her home with a single for a 3-1 lead. A nifty bunt single from Reaves brought Mathis home but the next two batters were retired to keep the score 4-1. After Peaster tied the game at four in the fourth, Jacksboro got the three runs back in the bottom of the frame. Jacksboro doubled its 7-4 lead in the fifth as Perez belted a threerun homer. In game two, Peaster picked up a first inning run but the Tigerettes scored twice in the third. The Lady ‘Hounds tied the game at two in the bottom of the third. Jacksboro took the lead for good with a pair of fourth-inning runs and added eight more in the fifth to go up 12-2. TheTigerettesscored three runs in the top of the sixth to end the game on mercy rule. The Purple will move on to face Clyde in the area round of the playoffs later this week. Jacksboro slapped out 18 hits. Leading the charge were three hits each by Mathis, Perez and Charlie Phariss. Game 1 is at 5 p.m. Thursday, May 2, with game 2 scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday, May 3. All games will be played at Stephenville High School.
