Hollywood Police uncover an active meth lab
On Wednesday, June 19th, the Hollywood Police Department, with the assistance of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, served a search warrant on Co Rd 42. During the search, an active meth lab was uncovered. Investigators found 4.93 grams of cocaine mixed with fentanyl, 11.33 grams of meth mixed with fentanyl, marijuana, illegal possession of prescription drugs, and a large amount of drug paraphernalia.
Historical Association to dedicate new marker at Paint Rock Valley School July 28

2024 Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday
Alabama will hold its 19th annual back-to-school sales tax holiday, beginning Friday, July 19 at 12:01 a.m. and ending Sunday, July 21 at midnight. Both the City of Scottsboro and Jackson County will participate in the tax-free weekend, allowing shoppers to purchase certain school supplies, computers, and clothing free of state sales tax. Local sales tax may still apply. All retailers are required to participate and may not charge tax on items that are legally declared exempt during the Sales Tax Holiday.
