Sylva residents rally to protect voting rights, honor John Lewis's legacy
SYLVA, N.C. (WLOS) — With less than four months until the presidential election, a group of activists in Sylva are calling on Congress to protect their freedom to vote. On Wednesday, July 17, roughly a dozen people took part in an event that was part of a larger nationwide movement to honor the life and legacy of Rep. John Lewis, who died exactly four years ago.

Number of farmers market in town doubles
Call it farmers markets in stereo, the established market on the left side of Bridge Park and a new market on the right. The Jackson County Farmers Market, long a Saturday morning staple for lovers of fresh food and local crafts, will stay on the west side in the big asphalt parking lot. The new market, the Sylva Farmers Market, will set up on the other side of Bridge Park on a concrete pad.
